“Radha” as he is popularly known, has been a corporate citizen for 31 years, with an impressive track record, in a variety of industries. Radha was ranked among the top in his graduation and Post Graduation in Economics, Econometrics and Statistics.
Presently Radha is the President of Future Freshfoods Limited (FFL), entrusted with setting up a national wide business in Fruits and Vegetables. FFL is a Joint Venture with the Future Group. It runs 6 distribution centres and 25 farmer collection centers. The company is involved in setting up the F&V category in Future Group. It has a turnover of Over Rs.200 Crores
He is also an Entrepreneur and runs his consulting company Aligned Business Partners (ABP). They work in the area of supply Chain Solutions, and Food Retailing, and work extensively with Private Equity firms as thought leaders in Food, retail, FMCG and Supply chain.
ABP also incubates a start up team in the tech space in Augmented Technology.
He started his career as a tea taster Carritt Moran and Company in Kochi, and Kolkata.
He moved on to head the tea division of Parry Agro Limited, controlled tea distribution from the tea estates and launched a brand of tea nationally. He worked here from 1984 to 1987.
Radha then worked as the Vice president of the Unilever promoted Indo Nissin Foods, noodles company that launched two national brands Top Ramen and Cup Noodle. From building the collaboration with the Japanese Nissin Foods, to setting up the factory in Jigany Bangalore, Radha almost was primarily responsible for bringing launching oriental Noodles in India. He headed at various times project management, commercial, marketing and product development.
In 1994, Radha’s entrepreneurial spirit took him to Amalgam Foods, where Higashimaru Feeds an aquaculture venture which had feed plants, hatcheries and Shrimp farms. He acquired a variety of business skills in running the geographically spread business into a profitable venture during the difficult times of the industry. During his tenure in Higashimaru feeds, he also launched the national frozen food brand Sumeru, which even today continues to be largest and leading brand in its segment.
1997 Radha joined Foodworld Supermarkets Limited and Vice president Operations. He was part of the original start-up team that launched the retail revolution in India. He set up operations SOPs and processes. In 2000 he became the VP Merchandising, Marketing, and Supply Chain. He is well-known in the industry of retail for his practical implementation of Category management, suitable to India. He also set up a India’s first retail consolidation centre for Fruits and Vegetables. he lectured in various top universities and industry forums during these years. He has trained over a 100 merchandisers during this time. He continued in Foodworld (later renamed Spencer’s) till May 2006. Spencer’s opened over 110 stores in the supermarket format and 10 Hypermarkets
set up operations and category management as a discipline with SOPs and Training manuals, devised the first WH in retail to do the cross docking and flow through system, and the first retail consolidation centre for fresh in Hoskote, Bangalore
2006-2010, he joined Reliance Retail as CEO of the Hypermarket Business. He started off by launching the Reliance Fresh format, in Nov 2006 in Hyderabad. Radha was involved in every aspect of the business from SAP configuration, retalix set ups, Distribution and logistics, operations SOPs, and training. He then moved over to launch the first Hypermarket for reliance in Ahmedabad, the Iscon Mall. He had set up over 1 million sq.ft space under hypermarkets alone in just over a year. He was the CEO of the Reliance Value format consisting of Super, Fresh and Hypermart. Reliance has over 600 Supermarkets and 35 Hypermarkets.
Radha is widely travelled, and loves sports. He is trained in SAP Retail IS1.6.
Radha is the current chairman of ECR India and a member of the RAI retailers association of India. He is also an avid sports person, played competitive field hockey and martial arts.
Radha is married with 2 sons. His wife work in a school for learning challenged and Autistic children. He is the trustee of the school, and is setting up a Vocational training school for Special Children.
He is 54 years old and hails from Kerala India.
